Today my company and Cisco had a giant kickoff meeting for the Next Gen Backbone, and it mostly went well, but there was a lot of Cisco giving us bad news in how we can’t do certain things with Segment Routing or Tree-Sid. ASM is currently not supported in Tree-Sid which is going to be a potentially huge issue for us. We mostly do SSM multicasts but there is a specific major application in our system that only does ASM as of now.
Another major piece that we were expecting to work was having bandwidth move around our system pending on the load of the circuit. They are now saying that isn’t currently supported in the hardware that they sold us specifically to do segment routing. Other then that it was a good productive meeting.
